The only problem I have with it is that the romantic aspect felt forced. I couldn’t get into it or appreciate what was going on. For those of us born as samurai, life is something else. While I believe many readers do not like the book due to the seemingly fanatical and heartless actions taken by Oishi-dono, such as divorcing his wife or taking in Sotry, if one looks through the Samurai lens one may see the beautiful, yet tragic singularity of their purpose: Even if they had failed to kill Kira, even if they had all perished, it would not have mattered, as victory and defeat have no importance.

This made this book easy to understand, allowing me to enjoy it. However, Kira allegedly continued to treat Asano harshly because he was upset that the latter had not emulated his companion.
Please help improve this section by adding citations to reliable sources. I haven’t seen it, but no matter how good it is, it cannot live up to this masterful piece.

I thought about the terrorists who willingly went to their deaths in order to kill Americans. I did thoroughly enjoy this trip down memory lane. The economic woes of Asia have been much written about — in purely economic terms. They become ronin, duty bound to avenge their master’s death.
Not everyone has these same standards. Inyoung Lord Asano is goaded into attacking a corrupt official at the Japanese Court. Honor was also what drove the samurai to vengeance, seeing that restoring honor to their clan was of the utmost importance. He knows enough about Japan and its languages due to his career specialities, to think about writing a book about the Japanese, but I still think he has had some trouble working out who the Japanese tsory is. There is also a recently released film.

I was told ahead of time not to expect a story full of action, blades clanging, and blood splattering. Tapi di sini inilah, kepemimpinan Oishi tampil mengesankan. Stiry were many times throughout the book where I thought it was a little lacking in description. The book [nearly] moved me to tears as it was heartbreaking to read how these band of samurai plotted revenge and made sacrifices to their cause, with the knowledge that they will lose their life in the end.
This story is a tale for the ages and was trivialized by the movie’s adaptation. Lord Asano on the other hand, was known to have been a hot-head, and for having slashed and killed some of his own men who angered him over some trifling matter.

I researched 47 Ronin and could not actually find anything anywhere that implied it was a young adult book.

Of course, if your master was killed, stiry were expected to exact revenge. By some accounts, it also appears that Asano may have been unfamiliar with the intricacies of the shogunate court and failed to show the proper amount of deference to Kira. It just shows that mis-information can lead to tragedy.
