I also agree with other reviewers that, as a rat owner, it is hard to believe a novel about rats in which the r I had mixed feelings about this book. That didn’t happen but maybe it can’t if you don’t want to be where you are. I also agree with other reviewers that, as a rat owner, it is hard to believe a novel about rats in which the rats show so little affection for one another, and the inaccuracies about rats’ sense of vision are distracting as well.
Perhaps it’s due to the translation from the original Polish, or just a literary technique I can’t understand.
It seems to me, though, that the point isn’t to have any of these particular feelings about the rat, but to recognize that you are the rat. The old rat the I, you, us Rat tails is only not lonely when he has left him. Starts out promising, but quickly gets boring.
